
Gurugram cyber police have arrested seven individuals accused of duping people of over ₹87 crore through various cyber frauds, officials confirmed on Wednesday. The accused were involved in multiple cyber crimes, including cyberbullying, stalking, impersonation, and fraudulent investment schemes.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (Cyber) Priyanshu Dewan, a total of 10,956 complaints and 399 cases have been lodged against the accused across the country. In Haryana alone, 22 cases have been registered, including six in Gurugram.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Sonu Kumar, Ishwar, Sunil Kumar, Pawan Kumar Sharma, Neeraj, Salim, and Priya Mishra. They were apprehended over the past two months as part of an extensive investigation into cyber crimes.
During the operation, police recovered ₹7.60 lakh in cash, seven mobile phones, and three SIM cards from the possession of the accused. The investigation revealed that the fraudsters had been operating on a large scale, targeting unsuspecting victims through various online schemes.
“After analyzing data from the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C), we found that these seven cyber criminals have defrauded people of ₹87.06 crore across the country. Further investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about their operations,” ACP Dewan stated.
