7 Pakistan-Backed Terrorists Gunned Down While Attempting Infiltration in Jammu

In a major security operation, Indian forces foiled a significant infiltration attempt along the international border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba sector, killing seven terrorists who were being aided by Pakistan Rangers, officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to the Border Security Force (BSF), the incident occurred during the intervening night of May 8 and 9, when the infiltrators were detected by India’s surveillance grid attempting to cross into Indian territory from the Dhandhar post. The Pakistani side allegedly opened fire to provide cover for the terrorists.

“Alert troops of the BSF neutralised the infiltration bid, eliminating at least seven terrorists and causing extensive damage to Pakistan’s Dhandhar post,” the BSF said in a statement, accompanied by video footage of the Pakistani military post being destroyed.

This marks yet another instance of Pakistani military involvement in facilitating terrorist infiltration, reinforcing India’s long-standing accusation that Pakistan serves as a launchpad and safe haven for terrorist activities in the region. India has repeatedly raised these concerns at international forums, pointing to Pakistan’s complicity in cross-border terrorism.

The failed infiltration comes close on the heels of Pakistan’s barrage of drone and missile attacks targeting Indian military bases and civilian areas. Key military installations in Jammu, Pathankot, and Udhampur were among the targets, along with cities across Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Punjab. However, India’s air defence successfully intercepted all threats, preventing casualties and damage.

Following the failed drone assault, Pakistani troops resumed firing at Indian posts and villages near the Line of Control (LoC) and the international border. In retaliation, Indian forces launched counterstrikes, destroying several Pakistani Army posts.

Local administrations responded swiftly to the heightened threat level. A complete blackout was enforced overnight in vulnerable cities such as Jammu, Srinagar, and several locations in Punjab and Rajasthan. On Thursday morning, air raid sirens were sounded in Chandigarh after a warning from the Air Force Station, with residents being advised to stay indoors and away from balconies.

In a precautionary measure, at least 24 airports across northern India have been temporarily shut to ensure civilian safety amid the ongoing hostilities.

Authorities remain on high alert as tensions persist along the border, with security forces continuing to monitor for further threats and infiltration attempts.
