In a shocking case of medical negligence, a seven-year-old boy from Greater Noida underwent surgery on the wrong eye at a local hospital, leaving his family in distress and prompting an investigation into the incident.
The boy, identified as Yudhisthir, was taken to Anand Spectrum Hospital in Sector Gamma 1 on November 12 by his parents. His father, Nitin Bhati, said that they sought medical help after noticing frequent watering of the child’s left eye. After an examination, Dr. Anand Verma reportedly informed them that there was a foreign object resembling plastic in the child’s eye, which would require surgery to remove.
The family agreed to the procedure, which was quoted at ₹45,000. However, the unthinkable occurred during the surgery: the doctor operated on Yudhisthir’s right eye instead of the left one, where the problem had been identified.
The error was discovered later that day when Yudhisthir’s mother noticed the surgical site on his right eye upon their return home. Shocked and upset, the parents confronted Dr. Verma and the hospital staff, only to be met with alleged misbehavior and a lack of accountability from the medical professionals involved.
Outraged by the negligence, the family created a scene at the hospital, demanding an explanation and immediate action. The incident was reported to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Gautam Buddha Nagar, who is expected to look into the case.
The authorities are now investigating the matter, and the family has filed a formal complaint against the doctor and the hospital. The case raises serious concerns about patient safety and medical protocols at the hospital, with many calling for swift legal action and accountability.
As of now, the hospital has not issued a public statement on the incident, but local authorities are reportedly reviewing the matter carefully. The boy’s family has expressed their intent to seek justice for the medical error that has left their child in a difficult situation.
