In a shocking incident in Mumbai, a 34-year-old man has been accused of pouring acid on his wife’s face after she sought a divorce due to his alleged affair with another woman. The 27-year-old victim, who had a love marriage in 2019, was living with her mother in Malad for the past three months after discovering her husband’s infidelity, unemployment, and drug addiction.
The attack occurred on Wednesday morning while the woman was at her mother’s residence. Following the assault, she suffered severe burns and facial injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment at a local hospital.
The police have initiated legal action against the husband under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 124(2) for throwing acid with the intent to cause damage, Section 311 for robbery or dacoity with the intention of causing grievous hurt or death, Section 333 for house trespass with preparation for assault, and Section 352 for intentional insult aimed at provoking a breach of peace. Authorities are actively searching for the accused.
This incident has sparked outrage and raised concerns about domestic violence and the safety of women in relationships. Community leaders are urging for stricter measures to protect victims and hold perpetrators accountable.
