In a disturbing turn of events, three prominent colleges in Bengaluru—BMS College, MS Ramaiah College, and BIT College—were placed on high alert after receiving bomb threat emails on Friday. The threats were reported around 1 PM, prompting immediate action from local authorities.
Police and bomb disposal teams swiftly deployed to the campuses to ensure the safety of students and staff. Following standard safety protocols, the institutions implemented evacuation measures, allowing students and faculty to exit the premises while concerned parents gathered outside seeking information about their children’s safety.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Lokesh Jagalasar, a case has been registered under section 351 of the Bangalore City Police Act for criminal intimidation. “We rushed to the scene with bomb disposal units, sniffer dogs, and forensic teams. However, this has turned out to be yet another hoax,” he stated.
The emails, all sent from the same address, claimed that a bomb had been planted on a desk within the colleges. Investigators are currently working to trace the origin of these emails. “We received information that three colleges had been threatened, and our cyber experts are analyzing the emails to verify their source,” DCP Jagalasar added.
This incident follows a series of similar bomb threat emails in Bengaluru in recent months, yet no arrests have been made in connection with these cases.
In an unrelated incident, the Taj West End Hotel in Bengaluru also received a bomb threat email over the weekend, prompting a rapid response from local authorities, further highlighting the ongoing issue of hoax threats in the region.
