In a bizarre turn of events, a thief in Telangana managed to rob a liquor shop, but his celebration of the heist led to his downfall. The incident took place at Kanakadurga Wines in Medak district, where the thief broke into the shop by removing roof tiles and disabling CCTV cameras. He then proceeded to gather cash from the drawers and pack up liquor bottles, seemingly executing the plan flawlessly.
However, the thief’s love for alcohol turned out to be his undoing. After collecting his loot, he decided to indulge in a celebration by drinking heavily from the stolen liquor. He drank to his heart’s content, and at some point, succumbed to his intoxication. The following morning, the shop’s staff discovered him passed out among the scattered cash and liquor bottles.
Narsing, the in-charge of the shop, recounted the discovery. “We shut the shop at 10 pm on Sunday. When we opened at 10 am the next morning, we found him unconscious inside. He had removed the roof tiles to gain entry and had taken money from the cash box,” he said. The thief was found with a small injury on his face, which might have occurred during the robbery.
The police have registered a case and are currently investigating the situation. As the thief remains heavily intoxicated and unconscious, authorities are waiting for him to regain consciousness in order to gather further information. At present, his identity remains unknown, and police are also looking into the possibility of an accomplice being involved in the robbery.
As the New Year approaches, this strange heist serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most unexpected factors can lead to a criminal’s downfall.
