Sinhagad Fort to Remain Closed for Visitors on May 29 Amid Landslide Threat

Sinhagad Fort to Remain Closed on May 29 Due to Landslide Risk Amid Heavy Rainfall

Pune Forest Department has announced the temporary closure of Sinhagad Fort for visitors and trekkers on May 29 as a precautionary measure in view of increased landslide risk caused by continuous heavy rainfall in the region.

The decision comes ahead of a scheduled disaster management inspection and is based on forecasts by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), which predicts sustained heavy rains over the coming days in the Pune area.

Tushar Chavan, Deputy Conservator of Forests, Pune, confirmed that all access routes to Sinhagad Fort, including popular trekking paths like Kalyan Darwaza and Atkarwadi, will be strictly closed on May 29 to ensure public safety.

Authorities urge visitors and trekking enthusiasts to avoid planning trips to the fort on this date and stay updated with official announcements, prioritizing safety during the monsoon season.
