Train Coach Derails Near New Delhi’s Shivaji Bridge, No Injuries Reported

A coach of an Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) train derailed near the Shivaji Bridge railway station in the national capital on Thursday afternoon, sparking brief concern but resulting in no injuries or damage to property, according to railway officials.

The incident took place around 4:10 PM as the train was en route from Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh to Nizamuddin Railway Station. The derailment occurred on the down main line, but officials confirmed that no casualties were reported.

“One coach of the train derailed, however, no injury to any person or damage to property has been reported,” said a senior police officer. “Police personnel, Railway Protection Force (RPF) staff, and railway authorities are present at the site.”

Authorities moved swiftly to isolate and remove the remaining coaches from the scene to prevent further disruption. The derailed coach remained at the location as of Thursday evening, with railway engineers working to restore it back onto the tracks.

Railway operations on other lines remain unaffected, ensuring no significant impact on train movement in the area.

The cause of the derailment has not yet been officially disclosed, and an internal inquiry is expected to be initiated.
