"Railway Minister Announces Plans for Circular Railway Network to Ease Bengaluru's Congestion"

In a significant development aimed at revolutionizing Bengaluru’s transportation landscape, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw unveiled plans for a circular railway network around the city. This ambitious initiative aims to tackle the notorious traffic congestions in Bengaluru, offering a much-needed relief for commuters.

During his recent announcement, Minister Vaishnaw sanctioned ₹7 crore for conducting a pre-feasibility test for the long-pending Bengaluru Suburban Railway Project (BSRP). Addressing concerns about potential delays due to the vacant MD position in the K-RIDE company, the Minister assured that the project’s commencement would not be hindered.

Highlighting the crucial role of the circular railway network in alleviating the city’s congestion, Vaishnaw emphasized the ongoing progress in funding the project. He expressed confidence that the funding process would be completed by the year-end, ensuring swift and efficient execution.

“I think that the time will soon come. Our government, when we started the journey in 2014 at the central level, things changed a lot,” stated Minister Vaishnaw, affirming the government’s steadfast commitment to the project’s success. He emphasized bridging any existing gaps in the joint venture company and providing essential technical support from the railway’s end.

Vaishnaw reiterated the Centre’s unwavering dedication to the people of Bengaluru, urging a non-political approach towards the implementation of the suburban railway project. “The Centre’s commitment is to the people of Bengaluru,” he asserted, emphasizing the need to transcend political differences for the city’s benefit.

Elaborating further on the circular railway’s significance, the Railway Minister underscored its role in providing comprehensive connectivity to Bengaluru as it expands over the next few decades. He acknowledged the joint venture’s limited technical capabilities and stressed the need for proactive measures to ensure the project’s success.

With the sanctioning of ₹7 crore for a Detailed Project Report, the circular railway represents a vital aspect of Bengaluru’s future transport infrastructure. Minister Vaishnaw’s emphasis on bolstering technical capabilities and expediting the project’s progress echoes the government’s commitment to enhancing Bengaluru’s commuter experience.
