The Prime Minister emphasized that Rao’s legacy will continue to inspire generations, underscoring his immense contributions to the nation.
In his tribute to Chaudhary Charan Singh, PM Modi recognized Singh’s pivotal contributions to India’s agricultural and rural development. He praised Singh’s dedication to public service, noting that this honor serves as a testament to his values of hard work and commitment.
The Bharat Ratna awarded to Karpoori Thakur was hailed by PM Modi as a fitting tribute to a leader devoted to social justice and equality. Thakur’s relentless advocacy for the marginalized and backward classes has left an enduring impact on Indian society, embodying values of inclusivity and compassion.
Agronomist M S Swaminathan was also honored with the Bharat Ratna posthumously. PM Modi celebrated Swaminathan as a revered figure in agriculture, renowned for his pioneering research and contributions to food security. He expressed hope that Swaminathan’s recognition will inspire more research and innovation in agriculture.
All four stalwarts received the honor posthumously, with their families accepting the awards on their behalf. Among the recipients, veteran BJP leader L K Advani is the sole living awardee, adding to the significance of this year’s Bharat Ratna recipients.
