DUSU Office Vandalized: ABVP Accuses NSUI of Drunkenly Destroying Ram Idol

The office of the Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) became a scene of controversy on Sunday morning as allegations surfaced of vandalism by members of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party. According to reports, the incident involved the destruction of a Ram idol within the premises.

DUSU president Tushar Dedha, affiliated with the RSS-backed Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), accused NSUI members of orchestrating the attack, claiming that they vandalized his office after consuming alcohol the previous night. He further demanded the expulsion of Abhi Dahiya, the vice president of DUSU, whom he held responsible for the alleged incident.

“Vice President of NSUI sat in his office last night and consumed liquor. After that, 30-40 people first broke the glass of the room of the Joint Secretary of DUSU, then broke the glass of the room of the Secretary of DUSU, and after that, they entered my office and broke the Ram temple in my office,” Dedha asserted in a statement to ANI, describing the attack as not just an assault on DUSU but on every student of Delhi University.

In response, NSUI President Varun Choudhary dismissed the allegations as an attempt by ABVP to divert attention from other pressing issues such as alleged malpractices involving fake degrees and academic fraud within their ranks. Choudhary criticized ABVP for their history of campus violence and accused them of trying to mislead students and cover up their own controversies.

“This is a clear attempt by ABVP to shift focus from real issues like the NEET, NET, and NTA scams. ABVP has consistently indulged in violence across Indian campuses,” Choudhary stated, referring to past incidents involving ABVP members.

The situation escalated further with NSUI filing complaints against DUSU president Dedha, alleging that he submitted a fraudulent marksheet to gain admission to the university. Dedha, in turn, refuted these claims as baseless and filed a counter-complaint against NSUI leaders, including Varun Choudhary and Congress MP Deepender Hooda, accusing them of attempting to tarnish his reputation on social media.
