Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday hailed Gujarat’s industrial growth, declaring the state a pioneer in key sectors poised to shape the global economy over the next 25 years. Speaking virtually at the inaugural ceremony of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s (GCCI) Annual Trade Expo 2025, Shah praised the state’s progressive business landscape and emphasized the importance of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in India’s industrial development.
“Gujarat has emerged as a pioneer in all the key sectors that will shape the global economy in the coming 25 years,” Shah stated. He underscored that MSMEs are the “greatest asset” in India’s industrial journey, encouraging the GCCI to foster a modern ecosystem that connects MSMEs with startups to promote youth-led entrepreneurship.
“Every major industry has its roots in a small-scale enterprise. Gujarat’s MSMEs have played a vital role in shaping India’s industrial landscape,” Shah added. He urged the GCCI to harness the legacy of traditional small industries while infusing them with the innovation and energy of the startup ecosystem.
Crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s tenure as Gujarat’s chief minister for creating a robust business environment, Shah said, “Entrepreneurs who choose Gujarat are assured of a system that is free from political interference, efficient, and conducive to growth. There are no strikes or disruptions, reflecting a commitment to ease of doing business.”
He also lauded Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel for continuing Modi’s legacy by supporting landmark projects such as the Kutch Renewable Energy Park, Dholera Smart City, and India’s first bullet train project.
“Under PM Modi’s leadership, India has seen tremendous growth in the past 11 years and has emerged as a global leader in various fields,” he said.
Shah highlighted the instrumental role of the Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry in this journey. “For 75 years, GCCI has maintained a constructive dialogue with the government, stood by people during crises, and upheld public interest while fostering Gujarat’s industrial growth,” he noted.
The GCCI Annual Trade Expo 2025 aims to spotlight Gujarat’s dynamic business ecosystem and its vision for the future, bringing together stakeholders across industries, startups, and government bodies.
