Security forces in Manipur conducted extensive search operations across hill and valley districts, resulting in the recovery of a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and narcotics, alongside the arrest of multiple suspects involved in criminal activities.
Arms and Ammunition Seized
During search operations in Keirao Khunou, Imphal East district, the following items were recovered:
- One MA4 assault rifle
- One 12-bore single-barrel gun
- One 9mm pistol
- One .32 pistol
- Five hand grenades, five arming rings, and two detonators
- Thirty 5.56mm rounds, two 12-bore rounds, three 9mm rounds, and two .32mm rounds
- Internet satellite equipment, including an antenna, router, and 20 meters of FTP cables
A separate operation in Bamdiar Awang Leikai, Bishnupur district, yielded additional items, including:
- One SLR rifle with a magazine
- Two .303 rifles and one pump-action gun
- 40 KCP (PWG) badges and other military supplies
Arrests in Churachandpur District
On Thursday, four individuals, including a KNF cadre, were arrested in Laijang village for threatening villagers with weapons. The suspects were identified as:
- Thangsiam Haokip (27)
- Kamlian (34)
- Malsom (20)
- Jaipu Doujaithang (42)
Items recovered included a Myanmar-made MA-1 Mk I assault rifle, an air gun, 40 live rounds of ammunition, 22 fired cartridges, and an unregistered vehicle.
Poppy Cultivation Destroyed
In Kasom Khullen Police Station limits, Kamjong district, security forces destroyed approximately 10 acres of illegal poppy plantations in the Molham village hill range. Two individuals, Pamchuingam Rimai (30) and Lifeson Lanjha (27), were arrested during the operation, with a knife and side bag recovered from their possession.
Narcotics Bust in Senapati District
Manipur Police seized 150 soap cases of brown sugar, weighing 5.87 kg (including packaging), from the house of N Sohrii (40) in Chiphaodai village, near Khabung Karong.
