“Bengaluru Techie Shares Hilarious Experience of Ordering Zomato Food on a Train”

Bengaluru Techie Shares Viral Experience of Ordering Food via Zomato on Train

In an amusing turn of events, a Bengaluru-based techie, Sunny Gupta, has gone viral on X (formerly Twitter) after sharing his unique experience of ordering food through Zomato while traveling on a train. Gupta, who was on a train journey from Mumbai to Pune, decided to skip the usual food options provided by train attendants and try the Zomato on-rail food delivery service instead.

Gupta shared the details of his experience in a now-viral thread, describing how he saw a prompt on the Zomato app asking for his Passenger Name Record (PNR). Intrigued, he chose to place an order for Triple Schezwan rice, with the delivery location set for the upcoming Panvel station. Gupta also discovered that Zomato’s service allows passengers to order meals up to four days in advance and cancel the order any time before preparation begins.

His order, worth ₹465, was supposed to be delivered directly to his berth on the Mumbai-Pune train. However, Gupta found himself facing an unexpected delay. As the train ran late, Zomato informed him that the food was ready and waiting at the station. Amused, he humorously referred to it as “revenge on Zomato,” joking that it was payback for all the times he had waited for delayed food deliveries.

Gupta posted a video capturing the moment the food was finally delivered to him by a “polite guy” at his train seat. Though impressed by the convenience and service, he did raise one minor concern: the restaurant failed to provide the cutlery, even though Zomato’s instructions stated that utensils should be provided, especially for train orders.

The story quickly garnered attention on social media, with his post receiving over 8 lakh views on X. Many users shared their own experiences with the Zomato service on trains, praising the feature for offering fresh, restaurant-quality meals delivered right to the train. Some also chimed in with their own experiences, with one user expressing disappointment over cold food due to a delayed train.

Despite this minor hiccup, Gupta’s post has sparked excitement over the convenience of ordering food on trains through Zomato, with many hailing it as a great alternative to the usual train food options.

Zomato’s initiative to bring hotel-quality meals directly to train passengers seems to have found a loyal following, with travelers enjoying the added convenience of choosing their meals ahead of time and having them delivered to their seats.
