Blast at Hyderabad Hotel Destroys Six Huts, Leaves Two Injured

Explosion at Hyderabad Hotel Damages Huts, Two Injured in Blast

A massive explosion at the Telangana Spice Kitchen hotel in the upscale Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad on Sunday caused significant damage to six nearby huts and left two people injured. The incident occurred around 9:30 AM at the hotel located on Road Number One, near Durga Bhavani Nagar Basti.

According to local police, the blast severely damaged the boundary wall of the hotel, sending debris—including cement bricks and stones—flying through the air. These debris struck several huts located approximately 20 meters away, causing substantial damage. Electric poles in the vicinity were also knocked down by the force of the explosion.

The explosion resulted in two minor injuries. Residents living in the affected huts were left in panic, with many expressing concerns about the damages to their homes and property. The Disaster Response Force (DRF), along with fire services, rushed to the scene to control the situation, while the police and bomb disposal squads began their investigation.

“Preliminary investigations suggest that a refrigerator compressor at the hotel exploded, leading to the blast,” a police spokesperson said. However, initial reports indicated a possible gas leak in the kitchen, which could have triggered the explosion.

The blast shook the local community, with many of the affected residents still in shock. One injured woman described how debris from the explosion rained down on her home, damaging all household goods. “The damage is huge; everything in our house was destroyed,” she said. Another resident estimated that each hut suffered a loss ranging from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh.

Local officials, including Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender, visited the site and assured the residents of their support. “The government will look into compensation for the affected families,” Nagender said during his visit.

The police investigation continues, with further inquiries into the exact cause of the explosion. The affected residents have demanded immediate compensation to help them recover from the damage caused by the incident.

Authorities have urged the public to remain cautious in the aftermath of the explosion and assured that steps are being taken to prevent similar incidents in the future.
