In a startling incident on Saturday, at least ten hotels in Rajkot, Gujarat, received bomb threat emails, which were later determined to be hoaxes. The threats, sent around 12:45 PM, prompted a swift response from local law enforcement, including a thorough search of the premises by the bomb disposal squad (BDS).
Police inspector SM Jadeja, part of the Special Operations Group (SOG), reported that the emails were sent by an individual identifying himself as “Kan Den.” The sender claimed to have planted bombs in each of the ten hotels and warned that they would detonate in a few hours. The alarming message urged hotel staff to evacuate immediately, stating, “I placed bombs in every location of your hotel. The bombs will go off in a few hours. Many innocent lives will be lost today. Hurry up and evacuate the hotel.”
In response to the threats, police units and the bomb disposal squad conducted extensive searches, examining each hotel meticulously. Despite the urgency and the gravity of the claims, no suspicious devices or explosives were discovered during the nearly five-hour operation, which concluded around 6 PM.
Authorities have initiated an investigation to trace the sender of the threat emails. The incident has raised concerns about security and safety protocols in public accommodations, prompting calls for enhanced measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
Police are urging anyone with information related to the threats to come forward and assist in the investigation.
