Six Dead, 22 Injured as Bus Plunges Into Gorge in Uttarakhand

In a tragic incident, six people lost their lives and 22 others sustained injuries when a bus fell into a 100-meter-deep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Pauri Garhwal district on Sunday. The accident occurred near Dahalchauri, as the bus, with 28 passengers on board, went out of control and plunged into the steep gorge.

According to officials from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), five passengers died at the scene of the accident. Local residents, along with rescue teams, immediately launched efforts to assist the victims. The injured were promptly evacuated and taken to the Pauri district hospital, while eight critically injured individuals were transferred to a higher health facility in Srinagar.

Chauhan also instructed the Transport Department officials to conduct a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed his condolences over the tragic loss of lives and wished for the swift recovery of those injured. He also praised the quick response of local residents and the rescue teams involved in the operation.

The incident has raised concerns over road safety in the hilly regions of Uttarakhand, where such accidents are not uncommon due to treacherous terrain and adverse weather conditions.
