The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary charge sheet against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and eight others in connection with the land-for-jobs scandal. The charge sheet was submitted to Special Judge Vishal Gogne, who has scheduled a consideration date for August 13.
The charge sheet is part of an ongoing investigation related to Group-D appointments in the West Central Zone of the Indian Railways, specifically in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. These appointments occurred during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009. The ED alleges that land parcels were gifted or transferred by recruits to the RJD supremo’s family or associates in exchange for the job appointments.
The case, which originally stemmed from an FIR lodged by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been a significant point of legal and political scrutiny. The charges highlight ongoing concerns about corruption and misconduct in high-level government appointments.
