In a significant anti-Maoist operation, security forces shot dead 36 Maoists in a forested area along the Narayanpur-Dantewada border in Chhattisgarh today. This operation, conducted by the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), marks a notable success for law enforcement in recent times.
The operation commenced yesterday following intelligence reports indicating a substantial Maoist presence in the region. Separate teams were deployed to conduct combing operations in villages including Govel, Nendur, and Thulthuli, under the jurisdiction of the Orcha and Barsur police stations.
The encounter began at approximately 12:30 PM today in the forests near Nendur-Thulthuli, with sources reporting ongoing clashes as security forces continue their pursuit of several remaining Maoists who retreated deeper into the forest. The forces have recovered several assault rifles, including weapons from the AK series, as they progress in their operation.
The swift action by security personnel reflects ongoing efforts to curb Maoist activities in the region, highlighting the ongoing conflict between law enforcement and insurgent groups in Chhattisgarh. Authorities remain vigilant as they continue to monitor the situation and work to ensure the safety of local communities.
