Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced on Tuesday that Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) supremo Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to visit Punjab on May 16. Kejriwal’s itinerary includes paying his respects at the Golden Temple and Durgiana Mandir in Amritsar before proceeding with roadshows across Punjab. Mann made this announcement during a roadshow in Jodhan, advocating for party nominee Ashok Parashar Pappi.
During his address, Mann criticized sitting MP and BJP candidate from Ludhiana, Ravneet Bittu, accusing him of illegally occupying a government house and highlighting that the AAP government has collected ₹1.84 crore from him. Mann also pointed out Bittu’s attempt to gain sympathy by staying at the BJP office, urging voters not to be swayed by such tactics.
Taking a dig at Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Badal, Mann emphasized that despite Badal’s claims of SAD being the “mother party” of Punjab, he had recently sought an alliance with the BJP, questioning the authenticity of his statements.
Mann projected confidence in AAP’s prospects, stating that after June 4, AAP will emerge as the largest partner in the Central government with 13 MPs from Punjab. He highlighted the party’s success in various regions, indicating a strong position to influence Punjab’s funding allocation with 30 to 40 MPs across different constituencies.
Kejriwal’s visit and the subsequent roadshows in Punjab signify AAP’s concerted efforts to bolster their presence and garner support in the state ahead of crucial elections. The CM’s remarks underscore the party’s strategies and ambitions for a significant political impact on both state and national levels.
