Ahead of the much-anticipated Budget 2025-26 presentation, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Hanuman Temple in Connaught Place on Tuesday, offering prayers and expressing optimism about Delhi’s future under the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led government.
Gupta, who also holds the Finance portfolio, stated that Bajrang Bali’s blessings would guide Delhi toward prosperity and bring about the ideals of Ram Rajya. “Bajrang Bali will do the best for Delhi. The city will progress, and Ram Rajya will be established,” she said.
Historic Budget for Delhi
Marking the BJP’s first Budget in the national capital in 26 years, the Delhi Assembly is set to witness an important financial roadmap for the city. Delhi Minister Parvesh Verma called it a “historic budget”, emphasizing that it would bring positive changes for the people.
Echoing his views, Delhi Minister Kapil Mishra also termed the upcoming budget as “one for Delhi’s development.”
The Cabinet meeting, which was previously held at the Delhi Assembly under former CM Arvind Kejriwal’s administration, will now take place at the Delhi Secretariat. Following the meeting, CM Rekha Gupta will proceed to Vidhan Sabha to present the budget.
BJP Returns to Power After 27 Years
This Budget Session holds significance, as it follows the 2025 Delhi Legislative Assembly elections, in which the BJP secured victory, marking its return to power in the capital after 27 years.
On Monday, ahead of the Budget Session, CM Rekha Gupta tabled a Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) in the Assembly. The report highlighted operational inefficiencies and financial losses, leading to criticism of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
The CAG report assessed DTC’s key operational and financial aspects, pointing out issues in fleet management, revenue generation, and operational sustainability, and stressing the need for reforms in public transport policies.
As the BJP government prepares to outline its vision for Delhi in the Budget 2025-26, all eyes will be on the measures and policies aimed at infrastructure, governance, and public welfare.
