In a bizarre and alarming incident, two sisters from east Delhi’s Vasundhara Enclave were arrested after a night of reckless behavior that left multiple people injured and caused significant property damage. Bhavya Jain, 23, and Charvi Jain, 21, have gained notoriety for their previous run-ins with the law, including a recent case of wrongful confinement and assault against a security guard at their residential complex, Anekant Apartments.
The dramatic events unfolded late Friday night when the sisters began blowing their car horn incessantly, prompting 70-year-old Ashok Sharma, a retired police officer living nearby, to ask them to stop. In response, the sisters retaliated by vandalizing Sharma’s flower pots and allegedly threatened him with a knife when he confronted them inside his home.
When the police were called to the scene, the sisters had locked themselves inside their apartment for hours, refusing to cooperate. Once they emerged, they took to the wheel of their car, driving erratically through the complex, where they collided with multiple parked vehicles and even struck a police car. CCTV footage captured the chaos as the sisters’ vehicle plowed through the premises, narrowly missing several pedestrians and injuring some in the process.
During their reckless escape, they hit a scooterist, identified as Joginder, who was standing outside the complex. The car dragged his scooter for a considerable distance before police managed to intercept them in Noida Sector 20. Fortunately, Joginder escaped serious injury.
Injuries were also reported among the residents, including Pradeep Chaurasia, an electrician for the complex, who sustained injuries while trying to stop the speeding vehicle. “One of the sisters looked at all of us, got into the car, and started driving at a very high speed. My hand was injured,” he recounted.
The sisters, who are graduates but reportedly unemployed, live with their mother, currently undergoing cancer treatment at a local hospital. Their father, Neeraj Jain, operates a printing press in Paharganj.
Earlier this year, the sisters were involved in another disturbing incident where they allegedly assaulted a security guard, Akhilesh Kumar. According to Kumar, they accused him of sharing information with their father and physically attacked him when he refused to address a plumbing issue personally, instead suggesting a plumber.
The shocking sequence of events has raised concerns about the sisters’ behavior and the broader implications for safety within the residential community. The police have taken the sisters into custody, and further investigations are underway.
