“Delhi’s Chandni Chowk Engulfed in Massive Fire, No Injuries as 40 Fire Trucks Respond”

A significant fire erupted in the bustling Chandni Chowk area of Delhi, causing extensive damage to several shops and goods worth crores of rupees. The Delhi Fire Service (DFS) responded swiftly, dispatching a total of 40 fire tenders and over 170 officials to the scene. Despite the ferocity of the blaze, there were no reported casualties, providing a sigh of relief amidst the chaos.

The incident unfolded on Thursday evening when a distress call alerted authorities to the fire in Marwadi Katra, Nai Sadak. DFS Chief Atul Garg revealed that the fire initially prompted the dispatch of 14 fire tenders, but as it rapidly spread to neighboring shops, an additional 26 vehicles were summoned to contain the inferno. Garg assured that the fire was contained within the area it originated from, alleviating concerns of further escalation.

“The fire is surrounded, so it cannot go any further. You can say it is under control; there is no need to worry,” stated Garg, emphasizing the concerted efforts of firefighters to prevent the fire’s spread to interconnected shops, particularly those housing garments. The narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk posed logistical challenges, compelling firefighters to position their equipment strategically to combat the flames effectively.

Efforts to combat the fire were intensified with the use of hydraulic machines deployed from various vantage points. The fire’s origin was traced to Marwadi Katra market, with reports indicating its subsequent spread to Anil Market. The quick response from authorities, including the swift mobilization of resources, contributed significantly to containing the situation and preventing any loss of life or serious injuries.

This incident follows a recent fire near a petrol pump in Noida’s Sector 37, which was successfully extinguished with no reported casualties. The prompt actions of fire and emergency services underscored their preparedness and efficiency in handling such emergencies, ensuring minimal damage and ensuring public safety.
