“IMD Predicts Cloudy Weather in Delhi Until Friday as Minimum Temperature Reaches 17.3°C”

Delhi's Minimum Temperature Rises to 17.3 Degrees Celsius, IMD Forecasts Cloudy Skies till Friday

Delhi, known for its fluctuating weather patterns, saw a rise in its minimum temperature to 17.3 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, up from 15.8 degrees the day before. The maximum temperature also climbed a few notches, reaching 36.6 degrees, slightly higher than Tuesday’s 33.5 degrees. This shift in temperatures has been attributed to various meteorological factors affecting the region.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts indicating generally cloudy skies persisting until Friday, followed by a transition to mostly clear skies. IMD officials highlighted the likelihood of strong surface winds ranging from 25 to 35 kmph throughout the week, contributing to the overall weather conditions.

According to Kuldeep Srivastava, a scientist at IMD, Wednesday witnessed mostly cloudy skies accompanied by winds averaging 15 kmph. There is a potential for very light rain in isolated areas of the city during the early hours of Thursday, although these predictions are subject to change based on evolving weather patterns.

Different weather stations within Delhi reported varying temperature ranges. Palam recorded a minimum of 20 degrees and a maximum of 36.2 degrees, while Najafgarh noted a maximum of 37.9 degrees and a minimum of 20.3 degrees. Pitampura experienced a low of 21.2 degrees and a high of 37.6 degrees, showcasing the localized variations in weather conditions across the city.

In addition to temperature updates, the air quality index (AQI) in Delhi remained in the moderate category, with a recorded AQI of 165 (moderate) on Wednesday at 4 pm, as per the Central Pollution Control Board’s national bulletin. This was slightly higher than Tuesday’s AQI of 144 (moderate) at the same time.

The Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi bulletin on Wednesday projected that the air quality is likely to remain in the moderate category until April 6, with a similar outlook for the subsequent six days.

The Central Pollution Control Board classifies AQI levels as follows: 0-50 (good), 51-100 (satisfactory), 101-200 (moderate), 201-300 (poor), 301-400 (very poor), and over 400 (severe), providing a comprehensive assessment of air quality for residents and authorities to monitor and respond accordingly.
