Influencer and UP Tourism promoter Tanya Mittal has alleged that a second stampede took place at the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, just hours after the first crush that reportedly claimed around 30 lives. In a tearful video shared on Instagram and interviews with news channels, Mittal described the horrifying chaos she witnessed, claiming that several more people lost their lives in the second incident.
Tanya Mittal’s Shocking Account
Mittal said she got caught in the second stampede while attempting to rescue children.
“We were at a high point when we heard a lot of screams. I had my team with me, and we decided to try and rescue at least the children and bring them to our rooms,” she recalled.
However, when she and her team went down, she found herself trapped in the crowd.
“At one point, my breath choked. I couldn’t breathe. I couldn’t see or understand anything. It was impossible to get out of there,” she said, visibly shaken.
Mittal said she eventually managed to escape and drag some people to safety inside a nearby Haldiram’s store.
“What I saw, I am still in shock,” she added, wiping her tears.
Second Stampede at Mahakumbh
Tanya Mittal’s claim about a second stampede comes just hours after she had posted a video praising the event’s security arrangements.
In her latest video, she expressed concern over the lack of acknowledgment of this second tragedy.
“I am deeply saddened to share that, in addition to the widely reported stampede near Sangam Nose, a second tragic incident occurred at Jhusi, approximately two kilometers away, just hours later,” she wrote.
According to Mittal, multiple fatalities and numerous injuries occurred in this second stampede, yet many victims were left unattended for hours before help arrived. She called for better security measures to prevent such disasters in the future.
Denial of Second Stampede Sparks Outrage
In an interview with News Nine, Mittal expressed frustration that some authorities and people were denying the occurrence of the second stampede.
Her claims have sparked concerns over crowd management at the Mahakumbh and raised questions about the official response to the tragic incidents. Many social media users have echoed her call for improved safety measures at large religious gatherings.
As the investigation into the first stampede continues, pressure is mounting on authorities to verify and address the allegations of a second, overlooked tragedy.
