In the wake of recent floods that have severely impacted several areas near the river Yamuna, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has announced financial assistance for the affected families. On Sunday, he declared a compensation of ₹10,000 for each flood-affected family in order to provide relief and support during these challenging times.
Expressing concern for the poor families who have suffered substantial losses, Chief Minister Kejriwal emphasized the need for immediate assistance. In addition to the compensation, the government will establish special camps to assist individuals who have lost essential documents, such as Aadhaar cards, during the floods. Furthermore, the government will extend support to students by providing school uniforms and books to those who have lost them.
Chief Minister Kejriwal visited a relief camp in North Delhi’s Mori Gate to assess the situation firsthand. He highlighted the efforts made by the government to set up relief camps in schools for those affected by the floods. These camps provide essential amenities such as food and sanitation facilities to the displaced individuals.
Kejriwal also emphasized the need for expediting the drying process in flood-affected areas by filling up the mud with dry soil. The government is actively exploring various means to provide ad hoc relief and compensate individuals for their losses incurred due to the floods.
In an update shared on social media, Chief Minister Kejriwal announced the restoration of the Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant. This development will ensure the supply of 105 million gallons per day (MGD) of water to constituencies including Rajinder Nagar, Karol Bagh, Ballimaran, Chandni Chowk, Patel Nagar, Palam Vihar, Delhi Cantt, and areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).
The Delhi government’s swift response to the flood situation and the provision of financial assistance aims to alleviate the hardships faced by affected families. These measures seek to provide immediate relief, restore normalcy, and support individuals in rebuilding their lives after the devastating floods.
As the recovery and relief efforts continue, the Delhi government remains committed to providing aid and assistance to those in need, ensuring the well-being and safety of its citizens.
