Arvind Kejriwal's Private Secretary Sacked Over 2007 Case: AAP Reacts

In a recent development, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal faced a setback as his private secretary, Bibhav Kumar, was sacked over alleged violations of rules during his appointment. This move comes as a blow to Kejriwal’s camp ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The Directorate of Vigilance issued an order terminating Bibhav Kumar’s services immediately, citing violations of Central Civil Service Rules related to temporary appointments. The order highlighted that Kumar’s appointment was irregular and lacked prior verification of character and antecedents, especially regarding a 2007 police case in Noida where he was allegedly involved in assaulting a public servant. This crucial information was not disclosed during his appointment.

The AAP responded swiftly, hitting back at the Lieutenant Governor and accusing the BJP of attempting to dismantle the party led by Kejriwal. Party leader Jasmine Shah expressed concern over what he termed as the dismantling of democracy in the national capital, citing recent events such as Kejriwal’s arrest in the fake Delhi liquor case and now the sacking of his private secretary.

The order from the vigilance department emphasized the seriousness of the charges against Kumar, stating that he is not clear from a vigilance perspective, especially as the trial is at the stage of evidence.

This development comes amid ongoing controversies surrounding Kejriwal, including the liquor policy case for which he is currently in jail. Kumar’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate and his subsequent meeting with the Chief Minister at Tihar Jail have added to the political turbulence in Delhi.

The AAP’s reaction and the swift action against Kumar highlight the intense political environment leading up to the elections, with allegations and counter-allegations flying between the ruling party and its opponents.
