Independent MP Pappu Yadav from Bihar’s Purnia district reported receiving a death threat from a caller allegedly linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The anonymous caller warned Yadav to steer clear of any involvement in matters related to actor Salman Khan, adding that Yadav’s movements were being closely monitored.
According to reports from India Today, Yadav had initially ignored repeated calls but eventually received a message claiming Lawrence Bishnoi himself had paid ₹1 lakh per hour to disable jail jammers to facilitate contact. The caller threatened that Yadav would be killed if he continued to challenge the gang’s influence over matters connected to the actor. Bishnoi, known for his criminal activities, has also been suspected of involvement in the recent murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai, an incident that has stirred up significant public outrage.
In response to Siddique’s killing, Yadav openly challenged Bishnoi, asserting he could dismantle the gang’s network within 24 hours. Yadav further criticized the Maharashtra government’s handling of the situation, calling the murder in public “a disgrace.” He took to social media platform X to express his views, posting, “The murder of Bihar’s son, Baba Siddique, is extremely tragic. If the BJP-led government cannot protect its influential leaders, what hope is there for ordinary people?”
Yadav has since reported the threat to Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP), urging immediate action to ensure his safety and address the rising influence of organized crime in the region. This recent development underscores the mounting security challenges faced by prominent figures who publicly denounce or challenge organized criminal networks in India.
