A distressing incident unfolded at the Paras Tierra Society in Noida, as a malfunctioning lift led to the injury of three individuals and sparked concerns among residents regarding safety protocols and maintenance standards.
The mishap occurred in Tower 5 of the society located in Sector 137, Noida, when the lift’s brakes failed while it was on the fourth floor. Subsequently, the lift unexpectedly ascended to the 25th floor and crashed into the roof, causing injuries to three occupants, including two women.
In response to the incident, authorities swiftly closed down the two lifts in Tower 5 and advised residents to utilize the stairs until a thorough investigation and necessary maintenance measures are undertaken.
Residents of the society voiced their concerns over the lack of maintenance that allegedly contributed to this technical malfunction. The local police have initiated an investigation into the matter, pledging to take appropriate action against any responsible parties.
“We will demand an investigation into this entire incident from the architects and builders. The safety of the residents is our first priority. We will take all necessary steps so that such incidents do not happen in the future,” stated a representative of the Apartment Owners’ Association.
This incident comes on the heels of a previous tragic event in the same society, where a 73-year-old woman lost her life due to a lift crash caused by a snapped lift cable. Such incidents underscore the critical need for stringent safety measures and regular maintenance checks to prevent accidents and ensure the well-being of residents.
The Noida region has witnessed similar elevator mishaps in the past, highlighting the urgency for comprehensive safety protocols and stringent adherence to maintenance standards across residential complexes and commercial establishments.
