In a major development, the Delhi Police have apprehended Madhur alias Mota Arman, the main shooter involved in the murder of gym owner Nadir Shah, who was shot in the upscale Greater Kailash area of South Delhi last month. The arrest took place following a shootout on Saturday evening.
Police received intelligence indicating that Madhur, believed to be linked to the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi and Hashim Baba gangs, would be present in the Narela Industries area of North Delhi. Officers set a trap for him, and when he arrived on a motorcycle around 9 PM, he was signaled to stop. Instead of complying, Madhur opened fire on the police.
In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, Madhur was hit, sustaining injuries to his right knee and left ankle. A police officer, Sub-Inspector Adesh Kumar, was also shot, although he was protected by a bulletproof jacket. The police recovered a pistol and 12 cartridges from the scene.
The shocking murder of Nadir Shah occurred on September 12, with CCTV footage capturing Madhur in a checked shirt firing multiple shots at the gym owner. Shah was shot six to eight times and later succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. According to police reports, Shah, of Afghan origin, had fallen victim to a plot orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang after he refused to pay ₹5 crore that the gang attempted to extort from him.
Shah was reportedly friends with notorious south Delhi gangsters Ravi Gangwal and Rohit Chaudhary, who were rivals of Hashim Baba, a gangster from Northeast Delhi. It is believed that Rohit Godara, a key member of the Bishnoi gang who has claimed responsibility for Shah’s murder, exploited this rivalry to recruit Hashim Baba in the scheme. Baba, currently incarcerated in Tihar Jail, enlisted his jailmate Sameer Baba, a gangster who had previously been threatened by Shah, to aid in the murder plot.
