NEET-PG Exam Scheduled This Month with Enhanced Security Measures

In the wake of controversies surrounding leaked question papers and alleged irregularities, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) medical courses is set to be conducted later this month. Sources revealed to NDTV that the Home Ministry, in collaboration with the government’s anti-cybercrime body, has decided to enhance security protocols for the exam.

Initially scheduled for June 23, the NEET-PG exam was abruptly postponed following uproar over leaked papers affecting the undergraduate exam. The government, citing concerns for students’ interests, pledged a thorough review of the National Board of Examinations’ procedures.

Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan promptly formed a committee to investigate the complaints, responding to widespread protests from candidates who had prepared extensively for the exam. The cancellation of the NEET-UG exam, which saw students travel significant distances, sparked nationwide criticism and calls for accountability within the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Recent developments include the dismissal of NTA chief SK Singh amid revelations that exam questions were being sold on the darknet, further intensifying scrutiny over the agency’s integrity. The controversy also spilled into political arenas, with opposition parties criticizing the BJP-led government’s handling of educational standards.

As investigations by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) progress, multiple arrests and raids have been conducted across various states, implicating coaching centers and school officials in a nationwide corruption probe linked to NEET-UG irregularities.

The NEET-PG exam, now scheduled with heightened security measures, aims to mitigate past grievances and restore confidence in the medical entrance examination process. The NTA faces mounting pressure to ensure transparency and fairness as it navigates the aftermath of one of India’s most critical educational tests.
