“Nitish Kumar Clarifies: No Plans to Rejoin BJP Amidst Speculation”

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Denies Intent to Rejoin BJP, Citing Misinterpretation

Bihar’s political landscape witnessed a whirlwind of speculations as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar emphatically denied any inclination to rekindle an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Kumar’s statement came in response to recent media reports that suggested a possible realignment of his Janata Dal (United) or JDU party with the BJP.

The controversy emerged following remarks made by Nitish Kumar during the convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Central University in Motihari. Pointing towards a BJP leader from the stage, Kumar had stated, “All the people we have here are our friends. You will remain connected to me as long as I live.” However, Kumar swiftly quashed any association between his words and a political alliance with the BJP, asserting that his statement had been misconstrued by the media.

In his clarification, the Bihar CM explained, “I just wanted to remind the people over there to remember the work which has been done by the state government in Bihar, else people only falsely talk about the central government.”

Leaders from rival political parties, including RJD’s Shakti Yadav, also downplayed the significance of Kumar’s statement. Shakti Yadav pointed out, “Radha Mohan Singh (of BJP) was sitting in front (during the convocation), so he spoke about his personal relationship. There is no mention of any party. People interpreted him incorrectly.”

The BJP, for its part, distanced itself from any potential alliance with Nitish Kumar. Bihar BJP Chief Saket Choudhary asserted, “Nitish Kumar has left, we have asked him to leave. BJP clearly believes that we are together in development but there is a fight on principles. Amit Shah has said that he has no connection with Nitish Kumar.”

Sushil Kumar Modi, a senior BJP leader, claimed that Nitish Kumar’s mention of friendship towards Radha Mohan Singh was merely an attempt to “scare and confuse” his current allies, the RJD and Congress, by alluding to his personal relationships within the BJP.

In response to these claims, Nitish Kumar dismissed Sushil Modi’s relevance, stating, “What was Sushil Modi earlier? Have you forgotten about Sushil Modi? When was he here? His (Tejashwi Yadav’s) father (Lalu Yadav) was made the chairman of Patna University, and he (Sushil Modi) was made General Secretary. I was in engineering college, and we made them win. This is all old news. We were working well when we were together. But he (Sushil Modi) has been removed now. I am sad that he was not made the Deputy CM. Now he keeps saying something or the other every day.”

Bihar’s political scene remains dynamic, with uncertain alliances and shifting narratives shaping the state’s future political landscape.
