A fire broke out inside a Noida flat on Thursday morning, caused by an air conditioner explosion. The incident occurred at the Lotus Boulevard society in Sector 100, with no immediate reports of casualties.
The fire, which happened amidst a scorching heatwave in North India, triggered panic among the residents. Nearby flat occupants rushed to the ground as heavy smoke billowed from the affected apartment.
Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey stated that locals and society residents alerted the fire service unit about the fire on the 10th floor of the building at 10:10 am.
“We immediately dispatched five vehicles (water tenders) to the scene. However, the firefighting systems installed in the society managed to extinguish the fire within 10 minutes before our vehicles arrived,” Mr. Choubey said.
He explained that the fire was triggered by an explosion in the air conditioner. “Since the firefighting systems like sprinklers, extinguishers, and hoses were working properly, the fire did not spread much and was contained to one room in the flat,” he added. There was no loss of life or injury reported.
An “AC blast” typically refers to an explosion or fire involving an air conditioning unit, which can occur due to various factors, often related to electrical or mechanical failures, according to officials.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) received over 200 calls on Wednesday, including 183 fire-related incidents, marking the highest number of calls so far this year, officials said.
