In a concerning incident, over 20 school students in West Delhi were hospitalized after a gas leakage was reported from nearby railway tracks. The incident took place at a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) school in Naraina, prompting immediate medical attention for the affected children.
A total of 24 students were hospitalized following the gas leakage incident. Fifteen of them were transported to Ram Manohar Lohia (RML) Hospital, while the remaining nine were taken to Acharya Bhikshuk Hospital. Authorities have swiftly responded to the situation, with a team of doctors from the MCD’s health department and education officials present at the hospitals to monitor the condition of the hospitalized students.
Vichitra Veer, the deputy commissioner of police (west), confirmed that a PCR call was received reporting children vomiting at Nigam Pratibha Vidyalaya school. Upon arrival at the school premises, it was evident that several children were unwell and needed immediate medical attention. Consequently, the affected students were promptly shifted to Acharya Bhikshu and RML hospitals for appropriate medical care.
Deputy Commissioner Veer shared that, as per the latest updates from the hospitals, all the hospitalized students are now in stable condition and recovering well. While investigating the incident, it was discovered that some classrooms were filled with a foul smell, which led to children experiencing vomiting. Despite the discomfort, most of the students had recently consumed their lunch.
As a precautionary measure, the affected classrooms were evacuated, even though the foul smell had subsided. Authorities are actively working to ensure the safety and well-being of the students, investigating the cause of the gas leakage and taking necessary steps to prevent any further health risks.
This incident highlights the importance of prompt response and effective coordination between authorities and healthcare professionals in ensuring the safety of school children during unforeseen events.
