Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti by inaugurating the 2550th Bhagwan Mahaveer Nirvan Mahotsav at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. The event was graced by the presence of Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal and esteemed dignitaries and saints from the Jain community.
During the ceremony, PM Modi released a commemorative stamp and coin to commemorate the milestone. In his address, he underscored the importance of youth embracing the timeless values championed by Bhagwan Mahaveer, emphasizing the need to uphold principles of non-violence and integrity in society.
Reflecting on India’s journey, PM Modi acknowledged the challenges of corruption and poverty that the nation has faced. He highlighted the significant progress made in alleviating poverty, with 250 million people lifted out of impoverished conditions. He also noted the alignment of the Mahotsav with key national events like the 75th year of the Constitution and the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
PM Modi praised India’s enduring civilizational legacy, portraying the country as a beacon of peace and spirituality globally. He addressed the challenges of modernity and the importance of spirituality in maintaining societal balance, cautioning against the dangers of anarchy when spiritual values are neglected.
Highlighting Jain doctrines such as Anekantavada and Syadvada, PM Modi emphasized their relevance in addressing global conflicts. He expressed confidence in India’s contributions to global forums, advocating for ancient Indian wisdom as a solution to contemporary global challenges.
The Prime Minister reiterated India’s commitment to environmental sustainability through initiatives like ‘Mission LiFE’ and advocated for a collective global approach to ensure a harmonious future for humanity. He praised India’s vision of ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future,’ positioning the nation as a global leader in advocating for inclusive and sustainable development.
