
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday offered prayers and performed the ‘Rudra Abhishek’ ritual at the revered Somnath Jyotirlinga temple in Gujarat. Dressed in a saffron kurta, the Prime Minister sought blessings at the Shiva shrine, which is the first of the 12 jyotirlingas and is located in Prabhas Patan.
Following his temple visit, PM Modi traveled to Sasan, the headquarters of Gir Wildlife Sanctuary, the only home to Asiatic lions in India, situated in Gujarat’s Junagadh district. Officials stated that on Monday, PM Modi will embark on a lion safari and chair a National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) meeting to mark World Wildlife Day.
PM Modi’s Message on Ramzan
Earlier in the day, PM Modi extended his wishes for the holy month of Ramzan. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote:
“As the blessed month of Ramzan begins, may it bring peace and harmony in our society. This sacred month epitomises reflection, gratitude, and devotion, also reminding us of the values of compassion, kindness, and service. Ramzan Mubarak!”
The Prime Minister also paid homage to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s idol inside the Somnath temple premises.
Meeting with Former Australian PM Tony Abbott
On Saturday, PM Modi met former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott, who is currently on a visit to India. Abbott also visited Dilli Haat, where he was seen enjoying millets. PM Modi shared a picture with Abbott on X, stating:
“Delighted to meet my good friend and former Australian PM Tony Abbott. He has always been a friend of India’s. We have all seen him enjoy millets during his current visit.”
