Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to the Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib Gurdwara in Bihar has garnered widespread attention after visuals of his ‘seva’ at the Sikh place of worship went viral. During his visit, PM Modi not only wore a Sikh turban but also actively participated in serving food to devotees in the langar, a practice of selfless service integral to Sikhism.
A viral video captured the Prime Minister serving food to Sikh people from a steel bucket, with recipients expressing gratitude for his gesture. Additionally, PM Narendra Modi assisted the Gurdwara management in cooking food for the langar, showcasing a spirit of humility and community service.
The Harimandir Ji, Patna Sahib Gurdwara, also known as Takhat Sri Patna Sahib, holds significant historical importance as one of the five takhats of the Sikhs. It was commissioned by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the 18th century to commemorate the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru known for his contributions to Sikhism and his resistance against the Mughal emperors.
Guru Gobind Singh was born in Patna in 1666 and spent his early years in the city before moving to Anandpur Sahib. The Gurdwara stands as a symbol of Sikh heritage and spirituality, attracting devotees and visitors from across the globe.
PM Narendra Modi’s visit to Bihar also included a historic roadshow in the state’s capital, making him the first prime minister to undertake such an event in Bihar. He further engaged in addressing election rallies in Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, and Saran constituencies, urging citizens to exercise their voting rights during the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
With the fourth phase of voting underway, PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have encouraged voters across several states to participate in large numbers, emphasizing the importance of democracy and the need for a strong and decisive government.
