Possible Sabotage? Punjab Police Find Iron Rods on Delhi-Bathinda Express Tracks

Sabotage Attempt? Punjab Police Recover Iron Rods on Delhi-Bathinda Express Tracks

In a possible act of sabotage, the Government Railway Police (GRP) in Bathinda, Punjab, recovered nine iron rods from the tracks of the Delhi-Bathinda Express on Sunday. The motive behind the incident remains unclear as police have registered a case against unknown individuals and launched an investigation into the matter.

Shavinder Kumar, the Investigating Officer from the GRP Bathinda, confirmed the recovery of the rods. “Nine iron rods have been recovered from the spot. The Government Railway Police has registered a case against unknown persons, and further investigation is underway,” he said.

This discovery is part of a growing series of similar incidents across the country, where suspicious objects have been found on railway tracks, raising concerns of potential sabotage. Investigating agencies fear that these actions may be part of conspiracies aimed at derailing trains.

Just hours earlier, a major accident was narrowly averted when a loco pilot applied emergency brakes after spotting a gas cylinder placed on the railway tracks near Uttar Pradesh’s Prempur station. Upon inspection, it was found that the cylinder was empty. Authorities have launched an inquiry into the incident, with railway security teams examining the site.

Another incident took place on September 20 in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur district, where iron rods were found placed horizontally on the tracks of the Doon Express. Thanks to the quick thinking of the loco pilot, who applied sudden brakes, a disaster was avoided. Officials suspect the incident may have been an attempted sabotage.

Similarly, on September 19, a six-meter-long iron rod was discovered on railway tracks between Bilaspur Road and Rudrapur city in Rajasthan’s Ajmer district. The loco pilot managed to halt the train in time, and after the track was cleared and inspected, the train resumed its journey. An FIR was lodged at the GRP Police Station under sections of the Railways Act 1989 against unnamed individuals.
