Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh – In a bid to kick-start the Congress party’s campaign for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Assembly polls, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the prominent Congress leader, will address a public meeting in Jabalpur today after offering prayers at the revered Narmada river. This move is expected to invigorate the party’s base in the state and garner support from tribal voters in the Mahakoshal region.
With the 2018 Assembly elections fresh in their minds, where the Congress secured victory in 11 out of the 13 Scheduled Tribe reserved seats in the eight-district division, the party aims to capitalize on its previous success. The remaining two seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Jabalpur, situated in the heart of the Mahakoshal region, holds significant importance due to its sizable tribal population.
According to Jagat Bahadur Singh, the Mayor of Jabalpur and the Congress’ city chief, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will initiate the party’s campaign and unveil “Sankalp 2023” during a public gathering at Shahid Smarak, scheduled to commence at approximately 11:15 am. Prior to the event, she will arrive at 10:30 am and proceed to Gwarighat to offer prayers to the revered Narmada river, emphasizing the party’s connection with the local sentiment and traditions.
During her journey to the rally venue, located eight kilometers away, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will pay homage to Rani Durgavati by garlanding her statue. Rani Durgavati, a valiant warrior who sacrificed her life battling against the Mughals, holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Jabalpur.
Anticipation is high as the rally is expected to draw a massive crowd, with at least two lakh individuals in attendance. The Congress’ city chief, Jagat Bahadur Singh, expressed his confidence in the party’s prospects, stating, “People in the Mahakoshal area or Jabalpur division, consisting of eight districts, feel neglected by the BJP. We performed well in the region during the previous elections, and this time, we are poised to sweep the polls.”
The Congress party’s decision to commence its campaign in Jabalpur underscores the significance of the Mahakoshal region and highlights the party’s commitment to addressing the concerns of tribal voters. As the election season gains momentum, political observers are closely watching the strategies and rallies of various parties vying for power in Madhya Pradesh.
With Priyanka Gandhi Vadra taking the lead, the Congress party aims to capitalize on its previous success and rally support from the people of Madhya Pradesh, promising a brighter and more inclusive future for the state. As the campaign trail unfolds, it remains to be seen how the parties will sway the voters and shape the political landscape in the run-up to the year-end Assembly polls.
