In a shocking incident in Pune, the driver of an Audi car allegedly dragged a motorcyclist for over 3 kilometers after an argument in the Pimpri-Chinchwad township. The incident occurred on Sunday evening, and police arrested the driver, Kamlesh Patil (23), along with his two associates, Hemant Mhalaskar (26) and Prathamesh Darade (22), hours later.
The victim, identified as Zacheria Mathew, was riding his motorcycle when his two-wheeler was struck by the Audi in the Bijlinagar area of Pimpri-Chinchwad. Following the collision, Mathew dismounted from his bike and approached the occupants of the car, seeking an explanation for the reckless driving. However, the situation escalated quickly as the car’s occupants began to verbally abuse Mathew and his friend, and they were reportedly assaulted by the group.
The argument turned violent when the car driver attempted to hit Mathew, causing him to fall onto the Audi’s bonnet. In a horrific turn of events, the driver allegedly sped away, dragging Mathew for more than 3 kilometers along the vehicle’s bonnet.
The police were alerted after the incident, and Mathew was rescued. He was taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
The police from Nigdi police station have registered a case against the three accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. All three individuals have been arrested and are facing charges related to assault and reckless driving. The authorities have assured that further investigations are underway to ensure justice for the victim.
This shocking act of road rage has raised concerns about road safety and the lack of accountability among drivers, especially those in luxury vehicles.
