    Ragpicker Injured in Central Kolkata Explosion, Bomb Disposal Squad Secures Area

    In a shocking incident in central Kolkata, a ragpicker was severely injured when an object he picked up exploded. The explosion, which occurred around 1:45 pm today, resulted in the ragpicker losing several fingers. The victim, identified as 58-year-old Bapi Das, has been rushed to a hospital for treatment.

    The incident took place at Blochmann Street in Taltala, prompting immediate action from the local police. Upon discovering a suspicious gunny bag at the scene, authorities sealed off the area and called in the bomb disposal squad. The bomb disposal team conducted a thorough search of the bag and the surrounding area before clearing it for traffic.

    Bapi Das, who has recently taken to sleeping on a pavement on SN Banerjee Road, was found near the explosion site. The police are yet to record his statement as he continues to receive medical care. A forensic investigation of the area is expected to follow to determine the nature of the object that caused the blast.
