In the lead-up to the Rajasthan Assembly polls, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has unveiled a series of seven guarantees aimed at benefiting the people of the state. These assurances encompass various aspects, including education, insurance, and financial support.
Among the promises put forth by the Chief Minister are free laptops and tablets for first-year government college students, implementation of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) through legislation, and a ₹15 lakh insurance cover for losses incurred during any natural disaster.
Gehlot, while addressing a press conference in Jaipur, reiterated his government’s commitment to these guarantees, assuring that they will be implemented if his government is re-elected following the November 25 elections.
Additionally, the state government intends to purchase cow dung at ₹2 per kilogram, presenting an opportunity for rural residents to benefit from this initiative.
Furthermore, Gehlot’s guarantees extend to technological provisions, as the government pledges to provide smartphones with complimentary internet service for three years to one crore women, aiming to enhance digital access for women across Rajasthan.
Another significant guarantee is the provision of English medium education for every student, showcasing the government’s commitment to improving the educational landscape in the state.
These seven guarantees supplement two previously announced schemes that include providing cooking gas cylinders at ₹500 for 1.05 crore families and an annual honorarium of ₹10,000 to the woman heading a family, to be disbursed in installments.
Regarding the waiver of farmers’ loans, Chief Minister Gehlot commended the timely fulfillment of this promise made by senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. He emphasized the importance of delivering on commitments and ensuring that promises are met.
Despite these assurances, recent actions by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) have caused concern within the political landscape. ED conducted searches at the properties of Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra and the party’s candidate for the Mahua Assembly seat as part of a money laundering inquiry related to an alleged examination paper leak case in the state.
Chief Minister Gehlot expressed reservations about these actions, alleging that they target opposition leaders who are vocal against the central government. He highlighted the perceived politicization of agencies like ED, Income Tax, and CBI, raising concerns about the state of democracy and the Constitution’s integrity.
As Rajasthan’s Assembly polls approach, the guarantees announced by Ashok Gehlot offer a glimpse into the priorities and initiatives his government aims to implement if re-elected. These assurances cover various aspects of public life and serve as focal points in the upcoming political discussions.
