“Rohini School Receives Bomb Threat Email a Day After Prashant Vihar Explosion”

Delhi: Rohini School Receives Bomb Threat Following Prashant Vihar Blast

In a troubling turn of events, a private school in Delhi’s Rohini area received a bomb threat email on Friday, just a day after a low-intensity blast occurred in the nearby Prashant Vihar locality. The Venkateshwar Global School (VGS), located within one kilometer of the blast site, was the target of the threat. Authorities acted swiftly, conducting a thorough search of the school premises to ensure the safety of students and staff.

The bomb threat was reported to the Delhi Fire Service at approximately 10:57 am on Friday. A team from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS), along with the police, bomb disposal squad, and dog squad, was immediately dispatched to VGS to investigate. The school was promptly evacuated, and parents were notified to pick up their children by 11 am. Fortunately, after an extensive search, it was confirmed that the bomb threat was a hoax, and no explosive material was found.

Dr. Namita Singhal, the principal of VGS, confirmed that the threat email had been sent to the school’s official email address. Despite the hoax, the situation caused significant alarm among parents. One concerned parent, Rani Awasthi, whose eighth-grade daughter attends the school, expressed her deep worry about the safety of children in the city. Awasthi, who was already shaken by the blast in Prashant Vihar, said the bomb threat had left her fearful about sending her child to school, even though she could not keep her child’s education on hold.

The Delhi Police have launched an investigation into the bomb threat, while officials continue to probe the explosion in Prashant Vihar. The blast, which occurred near a cinema hall, was triggered by an explosive device hidden in a scooter. Authorities recovered white powder from the site of the blast, but the cause remains under investigation.

An FIR has been filed in connection with the Prashant Vihar blast, with charges under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Explosive Substance Act. The case has been registered at the Prashant Vihar police station against unknown persons, with police working to track down the perpetrators responsible for the explosion.

As the investigation unfolds, the recent series of incidents has left residents and parents in Rohini concerned for their safety, highlighting the growing fear in the city regarding public safety and security.
