In a shocking revelation, a human skeleton has been unearthed from a house in Hathras, 30 years after the alleged murder of a man by his two sons. The police have initiated a forensic examination of the remains and are preparing to file a First Information Report (FIR) against the siblings Pradeep Kumar and Mukesh Kumar, their mother, and another individual involved in the case.
The victim, Buddha Ram, reportedly disappeared three decades ago, and his youngest son, Punjabi Singh, has come forward with memories of the night leading up to his father’s vanishing. Singh, who was only nine years old at the time, recalls hearing a heated argument between his father and his two elder brothers, which prompted him to leave his room to investigate.
“I used to sleep with my father when I was young. I still remember that one night my two elder brothers, along with another man, asked me to sleep in the other room,” Singh told PTI. “I couldn’t sleep that night, so I decided to come out and see. That’s when I heard my brothers fighting with my father.”
The following day, Singh noticed a freshly dug ditch in the porch of their home, leading him to suspect foul play. “When I asked my mother, she told me that my father had gone somewhere,” he recounted. For over a decade, Singh kept this information to himself, only sharing it with his brother Basti Ram when he was about 25 years old.
In a twist of fate, Singh reported the incident to the police eight years ago, but the investigation was closed at that time, with authorities dismissing it as a property dispute. Recently, Singh and Basti Ram approached senior officers, reigniting the investigation. This effort resulted in police action, leading to the excavation of the porch of their ancestral home on Thursday, where skeletal remains were discovered.
Area Circle Officer Himanshu Mathur confirmed the findings, stating, “The skeletal remains were sent for post-mortem examination. We will also conduct a DNA examination on the direction of the court. The local police station is in the process of filing an FIR against the accused.”
