Smriti Mandhana’s Masterclass Powers India to Commanding Win Over England

India Women Rewrite History with Another 200+ T20I Total

India’s Women’s team continued their sensational batting form with a staggering 210/5 against England in the first T20I at Trent Bridge. This stands as India’s second-highest total ever in Women’s T20Is, just behind their record-breaking 217/4 against West Indies in their previous game — making it a rare back-to-back 200-plus feat in the format.

England Suffers Their Biggest T20I Loss by Runs

England were blown away by India’s dominance, falling short by 97 runs, their worst defeat by runs in Women’s T20Is. The previous worst — a 93-run loss to Australia — came in 2019 at Chelmsford.

Mandhana’s Glorious 112 Breaks Multiple Records

Smriti Mandhana stole the show with a breathtaking knock of 112 runs, the highest individual score by an Indian woman in a T20 International, surpassing Harmanpreet Kaur’s 103 from 2018. Mandhana’s innings featured 15 boundaries and 3 sixes, with 78 of her runs coming through boundaries — a new Indian record in Women’s T20Is.

Triple Format Centuries: A New Milestone for Mandhana

With this innings, Mandhana became the first Indian woman to score centuries in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is — joining a select group of global players that includes Heather Knight, Tammy Beaumont, Laura Wolvaardt, and Beth Mooney.

Batting Brilliance in the Middle Overs

India’s approach through the middle overs (7–16) was fearless and fast-paced. They hammered 124 runs in that phase, their best-ever middle-overs tally, and second only to West Indies’ 125 vs Australia among Full Member nations.

    Opening Duo Continues to Shine

The Mandhana–Shafali Verma partnership added another half-century stand to their growing record. They now have 21 fifty-plus stands in T20Is — the most by any pair in Women’s T20I history, moving past Australia’s Alyssa Healy and Beth Mooney (20).

English Spinners Suffer as Indian Bowlers Excel

While India’s bowlers impressed, England’s spin unit endured a horror outing, leaking 105 runs in eight overs with an economy of 13.12 — the worst for spinners in Women’s T20Is when bowling eight or more overs. In contrast, Indian spinners bagged eight wickets while conceding just 72 runs in 10.5 overs.

Debut Delight: Shree Charani’s Magical Spell

Young debutant Shree Charani made an instant impact, returning with remarkable figures of 4 for 12, making it the second-best debut spell by an Indian woman in T20Is.

Rare Feat: Two 200+ Scores in a Row

With this performance, India Women became only the third team in Women’s T20I cricket — after Indonesia and Argentina — to record consecutive 200+ totals, showcasing a newfound consistency and aggression in their batting lineup.
