In a troubling incident this morning, a speeding Audi collided with two autorickshaws in Mumbai, resulting in injuries to three individuals. The driver of one of the autorickshaws is reported to be in critical condition, while the other two passengers sustained injuries. The driver of the Audi fled the scene, leaving the vehicle behind.
The crash has intensified public outrage against luxury car offenders, particularly in light of recent similar incidents. The Mulund police have confiscated the Audi but are currently searching for its driver, who has been missing since the accident.
This incident comes on the heels of two other high-profile hit-and-run cases involving luxury vehicles. Earlier this month, a 24-year-old associated with the Shiv Sena was involved in a fatal crash while driving a BMW under the influence of alcohol. In a separate case, the minor son of a Pune realtor ran over two techies with his Porsche during a late-night drive, also while intoxicated. The latter case also revealed attempts by the family to interfere with evidence, including replacing the driver’s blood sample.
These incidents have challenged the perception that wealthy individuals can evade justice despite committing serious offenses. Authorities have faced significant public pressure to ensure timely investigations and arrests in these cases to uphold accountability.
