In a peculiar traffic incident that has captured the attention of Delhi residents, a 20-year-old man dressed as Spider-Man was arrested for endangering road safety. The arrest followed a complaint lodged by a social media user about a vehicle in Dwarka with a Spider-Man impersonator on its bonnet.
On Tuesday, the Dwarka traffic police, in conjunction with local authorities, tracked down the vehicle—a Scorpio—and apprehended the man in the Spider-Man costume, identified as Aditya (20), along with the driver, Gaurav Singh (19). The duo faces charges for dangerous driving, driving without a pollution certificate, and failure to wear seatbelts. The offenses carry a potential maximum fine of ₹26,000 and/or imprisonment, according to a police statement.
This arrest marks a recurrence of trouble for Aditya, who, along with another individual, Anjali (19), was previously fined in April for riding a motorcycle in Spider-Man costumes without helmets and other safety measures. The earlier incident had also gained attention through social media, where a video showed the duo performing stunts on a helmet-less bike.
The Delhi Traffic Police have emphasized their commitment to upholding road safety and expressed zero tolerance for reckless behavior. Officials urged the public to report any dangerous driving or traffic violations to ensure the safety of all road users.
“The Delhi Traffic Police is dedicated to enforcing traffic laws and ensuring the safety of all citizens. Such reckless conduct on the roads will not be tolerated,” a senior police officer stated. The department continues to call for public cooperation in maintaining road safety and smooth traffic flow across the city.
