“Srinagar Designated as ‘Temporary Red Zone’ by J&K Police for PM Modi’s Yoga Day Event”

Jammu and Kashmir Police Declares Srinagar 'Temporary Red Zone' Ahead of PM Modi's Yoga Day Event

In anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit for International Yoga Day celebrations, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have declared Srinagar as a ‘temporary red zone,’ according to a report from news agency ANI. This designation signifies strict regulations regarding the use of drones and quadcopters during the Prime Minister’s two-day stay in the city.

The Drone Rules of 2021 stipulate that areas marked as red zones require prior authorization for the operation of drones and quadcopters. This precautionary measure is part of the security arrangements for the Prime Minister’s visit, which marks his first trip to Jammu and Kashmir since the commencement of his third term in office.

An official, quoted by PTI, stated that preparations for the International Yoga Day event, to be led by PM Modi, are underway, with arrangements already in place at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre. The event is scheduled to highlight the theme ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ emphasizing the role of yoga in personal and societal development.

PM Modi’s social media account, dedicated to promoting yoga and wellness, has been actively sharing various asanas and advocating for the health benefits of yoga practice. The Prime Minister’s engagement with International Yoga Day has been a consistent feature, with previous events held in prominent locations such as Delhi, Chandigarh, Jabalpur, Dehradun, and even at the United Nations.

Minister of AYUSH, Prataprao Jadhav, announced the theme for this year’s International Yoga Day, focusing on the transformative impact of yoga on individuals and communities. In a letter addressed to gram panchayats on June 13, PM Modi reiterated the significance of yoga, stating, “The theme of International Day of Yoga this year, ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ will further strengthen our efforts to build a healthy nation.”

As the preparations continue for the International Yoga Day event in Srinagar, authorities are ensuring stringent security measures and regulatory protocols, including the designation of the city as a ‘temporary red zone’ to safeguard against unauthorized drone activities during the Prime Minister’s visit.
