A shocking incident of vigilante justice has emerged from Bihar’s Araria district, where a man accused of theft was brutally tortured by a group of individuals. The horrifying act, recorded and shared widely on social media, shows the victim being subjected to inhumane treatment.
In the video, the accused is seen with his hands tied and his pants pulled down. The attackers pour chilli powder into his private parts, using a pen to ensure the powder penetrates deeply. The victim, who is accused of stealing vehicles, is forced to bow forward and plead for mercy while the group continues the assault. The scene is further distressing as bystanders film the ordeal with their phones, seemingly indifferent to the victim’s suffering.
The Araria Police have condemned the act as “inhuman” and announced the arrest of one individual involved. Authorities are also taking action to identify and prosecute others who participated in the incident. The police stated, “This inhuman act was committed with a man accused of theft. One person committing this act has been arrested. Action is being taken against others too.”
The incident has drawn significant criticism from political leaders, with the main opposition party, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), targeting the Nitish Kumar-led JDU-BJP government. The RJD condemned the government’s handling of law and order, comparing the incident to the Taliban and describing it as “worse than Taliban.” The party’s criticism highlights ongoing concerns about crime and governance in the state.
“This is Nitish Kumar-BJP’s Mahagundaraj-Mahajungleraj. This is worse than Taliban. The Chief Minister is not in his senses. Many murders are taking place in Bihar daily,” RJD said in a post on X, reflecting the growing dissatisfaction with the state administration’s approach to law enforcement and public safety.
The brutal nature of the incident underscores the urgent need for effective law enforcement and justice systems to address and prevent such acts of vigilante violence. As investigations continue, there is a call for stricter measures to ensure accountability and prevent similar occurrences in the future.
