The Kochi city police on Thursday confirmed that actor Shine Tom Chacko will soon be issued a notice and questioned in connection with an anti-drug raid at a hotel, where he allegedly fled the scene upon seeing law enforcement officials.
According to police, the District Anti-Narcotic Special Action Force (DANSAF) conducted a surprise raid at a hotel near Kaloor around 10:45 pm on Wednesday night. While the primary suspect in a drug-related case was not found, officials discovered that actor Shine Tom Chacko was staying at the hotel. When officers approached his room on the third floor, Chacko allegedly escaped in a dramatic fashion.
Police sources revealed that CCTV footage showed Chacko leaping from his hotel room window onto a sheet on the second floor, which tore on impact. He then jumped into the swimming pool and escaped through a nearby staircase. Although no drugs were recovered from the scene, police say they are investigating the unusual nature of his flight and will soon summon him for questioning.
Meanwhile, in a related development, Malayalam actress Vincy Aloshious has accused Shine Tom Chacko of inappropriate behavior on the sets of the unreleased movie Soothravakyam. In her complaint to the Film Chamber and the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), Aloshious alleged that Chacko, under the influence of drugs, misbehaved with her and another female colleague. The actress had earlier posted a video on Instagram stating that she would not work with actors who consume drugs on film sets. She reiterated her stance at a recent ‘No to Drugs’ campaign event.
Chacko, who was previously acquitted in a 2015 drug case by the Ernakulam additional sessions court due to procedural lapses in the investigation, now faces renewed scrutiny as law enforcement continues its probe into the latest incident.
Authorities stated that statements from hotel staff and others will be recorded as part of the ongoing investigation. The mystery behind his escape remains, and police say further details will emerge once the actor is questioned.
